Java Applications Using Websphere




SUMMARY:   Through a combination of instructor-led discussions and workshops this seminar will demonstrate the functional capabilities of the S/390-based e-business strategy that incorporates WebSphere, OS/390 JDK and Java Connectors for your existing OS/390 legacy data structures. Through this course each student will become familiar with the OS/390 Java implementation, role Applets and servlets, use of JDBC and configuration and customization of the WebSphere Application Server.

AUDIENCE:   System programmers, Java application developers, programmers and other technical professionals that will be responsible for developing Java applications in the OS/390 environment.

PREREQUISITES:   Each student should have a basic understanding of the Windows environment and a fundamental knowledge of the Java application programming language.

DURATION:   4 Days.

APPROACH:   This class is taught by lab and lecture.

  • Define the role of security for running Java applications and servlets
  • Illustrate the role of the Workload Manager
  • Understand the servlet/JSP model in the OS/390 realm
  • Discuss the connections to existing IMS, CICS and DB2 legacy data
  • Explore the role of Java Native Interface (JNI)
