VMware Infrastructure




SUMMARY:   This course works with VMware Infrastructure 3 to install, troubleshoot, and use ESX Server and VirtualCenter in a production environment. The students will gain hands on experience from an experienced instructor who has been using the software for two years and has operating system experience from the early 90’s. Optimization and practical use of options are emphasized through out the course. Real life scenarios will be included in the class so the student can be productive immediately upon return to the job.

AUDIENCE:   System administrators and operators responsible for ESX Server and VirtualCenter.

DURATION:   4 Days

APPROACH:   Instructor led: Lecture 30%, Workshop 70%

OBJECTIVES:   At the end of this course, delegates will be able to:

• Explain the purpose of ESX server and how VirtualCenter relates to it
• Install and configure virtual machines, using the correct options
• Create standard templates
• Deploy virtual machines from templates
• Allocate resources effectively based on actual production experience
• Migrate and manage virtual machines including problem resolution
• Monitor performance to reduce downtime
• Troubleshoot ESX Server problems
• Understand the impact of virtualization
• Determine the best way to use VMWare
• Work with the VMWare knowledge database for problem resolution plus other sources
