ICF Catalog Workshop




AUDIENCE:   This course is designed for Systems programmers, operations analysts or anyone responsible for maintaining and building ICF catalogs.

PREREQUISITES:   The participant should have knowledge of the z/OS environment along with experience with JCL and VSAM datasets.

DURATION:   3 Days.

APPROACH:   This class is taught by lecture with hands-on workshops.

OBJECTIVES:   After taking this course the student should be able to:



  • Define the structure and function of an ICF catalog
  • Create and maintain ICF catalogs
  • Understand the associations between the differing VVDS and BCS records
  • Identify and determine an error in a catalog structure
  • Define procedures to diagnose, backup and recover catalog, whilst ensuring a high level of system availability
