| History: | Mike arrived on the ICT scene as a post-doc biochemist, with an aversion to punching out ANOVAR analyses of his data on a Casio calculator and who subsequently decided to make a career in the information industry instead of the lab. He has worked in roles across the entire SDLC within blue chip Public and Private sector organizations, and has also undertaken the management and delivery of information services. He continues to fulfill roles in industry as a contractor, between training assignments. His belief is that the training of enterprise ICT subjects should sit in the context of real world computing and is well placed to deliver on this mission. We need to answer the question, ‘What should we do with all this knowledge back at the ranch?’.
Mike has trained datacenter ICT subjects for the last 15 years, covering Unix operating systems, databases (Oracle and SQL Server) and programming languages such as C++, Java and PERL. He is a qualified CISA computer auditor and has given many presentations at various security events around the world and runs computer security training sessions. In terms of training style he recalls his best eval ever; having explained the complexities of the Unix printing subsystem to a group, an attendee at the back of the lab exclaimed, ‘Is that all it is?’.
Living in South Wales, in the UK, Mike runs a successful consultancy company specializing in Oracle on Solaris. |
